Queen Anne Elementary PTSA Officers, 2011-2012
President: Karrie Sanderson
Karrie is the mother of incoming Queen Anne Elementary third-grader, Ava, and future kindergartener, Reed. Professionally, Karrie is an regional business analytics and strategy expert whose past employers include Coca-Cola, Starbucks, and Pfizer. She is now with a private marketing consulting company. For the past two years, Karrie served as secretary on the Coe PTA executive board. She also volunteers strategic marketing consulting services to local non-profits via the Taproot Foundation. Karrie has been active in the Queen Anne Elementary PTSA steering committee.
Treasurer: Yazmin Mehdi
Yazmin is the mother of Queen Anne Elementary second-grader, Declan Lavery. Professionally, Yazmin spent fourteen years in various policy analysis and project management roles at the City of Seattle before becoming the business director for local, online journal, Crosscut.com. She recently became a stay-at-home mom and has since spent her time in various volunteer roles, including as a classroom volunteer. She currently serves on the Finance Committee for Town Hall, and has served as treasurer for the Hilltop Children’s Center, program committee chair for Washington CASH, a local microloan organization, and a public library representative for the Library Council of Washington. Yazmin has been active on the Queen Anne Elementary website, hiring and PTSA steering committees.
Co-Treasurer: Brook Wessel
Brook is the father of a QAE first grader, Gabriella and a Lowell/Lincoln fifth grader, Alexander. His wife Ramona and family have been part of the QA community since 1997. When not coaching boys soccer or adventuring outdoors, Brook has been in the mobile internet space for +20 years and is now a corporate venture capital investor with Deutsche Telekom's T-Venture T-Mobile Fund. Now that the "office" is at home, he can invest more time in the community when not at the other offices in San Francisco or Bonn, Germany.
Secretary: Shelly Dillon
Shelly is the mother of QAE second grader, Vince. Shelly and her husband Joe are co-founders of a professional technology service company, Quardev, Inc., that supports development companies in releasing quality products – Web, mobile, enterprise, and end users. After a youth of traveling extensively with her Air Force parents, Shelly moved to Seattle from Boston in 1995, and continues to be enchanted by this vibrant community and city. Shelly and Joe, along with Vince, were founding families of the QA concept and are excited to assist in the growth and evolution of the school.
