In an earlier news post, we shared parent Suzi LeVine’s summary of a workshop Queen Anne Elementary staff participated in with educational consultant Bruce Dixon. As a consequence of this workshop, the staff is developing the philosophical foundations for this exciting new school.
As you might imagine, completing this foundational work will necessarily involve you: the parents and students of our community. Stay tuned to hear more about when and where this will happen.

In the meantime, the staff members are eager to share their Five Pillars of Queen Anne Elementary.

Five Pillars
We are self-directed learners
We encourage each other to think critically and learn more
We are concerned, confident and compassionate citizens of the world
We learn everywhere, we learn together
We are creative

Principal David Elliott and his teaching staff recently attended a workshop with education consultant, Bruce Dixon.  Dixon has been a teacher, principal and even software developer. Today, he directs Ideaslab, a unique think tank focused on the use of technology in learning and teaching.   See parent volunteer Suzi LeVine’s review of this exciting experience here.
Next week, David and his team will be attending the International Society for Technology in Education conference in Denver (www.iste.org).
