Classroom Wish Lists

Did you know that teachers spend an average of $400 of their own money to supplement classroom materials?  Help enrich your child’s classroom, or a program at QAE, by purchasing an item from their Wish List.  A complete list of all teachers, including PE, Art, and the Library can be found here.

Buy from Amazon, Give to QAE

Introduced last year, the QAE Amazon Program raised over $1,300 for the QAE PTSA.  If you have some last minute back-to-school shopping or are planning ahead for Thanksgiving or cooler weather, use the QAE Amazon program!  Purchases don’t have to be school related to qualify—and you can use this program year-round.

Hi QAE Grown-ups!

At 9:25 on Sept. 5, please gather for an all school welcome on the front stairs of the wood building, along with an all school picture.  When the student welcome is over and the children have headed to their classrooms, the PTSA will host a reception in the cafeteria for all parents/guardians.  It is a time to get acquainted or reconnect with other parents in our community.  Someone will be there holding a sign with your teacher's name on it, so you can find your grade level compadres more easily.  But of course you are free to wander, nibble on the breakfast treats and chat.
If you have any questions please contact Kristin Teske at: teskes@comcast.net
We hope to see you there!

REMINDER: Back To School Night is on August 30th from 4-6pm!

The QAE staff has decided to post classroom assignments that evening, so come meet your teacher!  And don't forget to bring your checkbook to join the PTSA or buy spirit wear.
Looking forward to seeing you there!

Dear Incoming Kindergarten Families,

The Kindergarten team is so excited to begin our journey with your kids!
We have been very busy planning a fun curriculum filled with projects and
excitement. We look forward to sharing our plans for the year with you at our
curriculum night on September 27th.

As a team, we have decided not to do kindergarten interviews this year.
Instead, we have divided classes heterogeneously based mainly on age and gender.
We are confident that your children will flourish and grow in any of our
classes. If you have any information that feel might impact your child’s success
on the first day, please contact us at royokoyama@seattleschools.org. However,
we do not take requests for your child to be in a specific classroom or with/without
specific children.

Class lists will be posted on August 30th at our back to school night and then
posted on the school website on August 31st. During this event, you will be able to
visit your child’s classroom, mingle with other families, and meet your teacher.
This is a busy and exciting night - please save all non-first day related questions
to ask at curriculum night.

We look forward to meeting you all and having a fabulous year together.
Enjoy your last days of summer!

Sincerely,
The Kindergarten Team
Rachel Marks, Rene Yokoyama & Katie Cryan Leary

The PTSA would love to sponsor two Chess Club Classes (one for grades K-1 and one for 2-5) for school year 2012-2013 but we need your help.

We are looking for parents who are interested in serving as Chess Club Coordinators to help manage Chess Club, organize the weekly parent volunteers, and serve as the point of contact for QAE Chess Club. At least two volunteers are needed, each responsible for one Chess Class.

The Chess Club Coordinators must be identified by August 31st, 2012 in order for QAE to be assigned an instructor from Chess Mates.

Please contact Angela Liu (limin.angela.liu@gmail.com) and Heather Low Choy (heather@lowchoy.com) if you are interested in being a Chess Club Coordinator or have any questions. Thank you for your time and contribution!
