Thank you to all who have responded so far!

The PTSA board will soon begin work on developing a budget for the 2012-2013 academic year.

We need you! We've put together a short survey to get your thoughts on the programs and projects we currently fund, and some potential ideas for the future.

The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete. Please take a moment to give us your thoughts and ideas.

The survey will be available until April 10th. After that, we'll compile the information and use it to craft a budget that we'll present to the general membership in June for approval and adoption.

Thank you for taking time to help us.

Creating And Collaborating: A Learning Shift
Presented by Jeffrey Riley

If you plan to attend, please RSVP at http://snipr.com/qaeparented by Tuesday 2/28

Do you wonder how QAE supports and teaches your kids about the internet, social media, and all that is available at their fingertips?
Your kids know what voice threads, glogster, and weebly are, but do YOU?
Have you been wondering how to support and guide your children's use of technology to share and express themselves?

Please join us for our next PTSA-sponsored parent education event on February 29.
Our dynamic librarian and technology guru, Jeffrey Riley (assisted by a few of QAE's most tech savvy 5th graders), will present, demonstrate, provide hands-on technology experiences, and answer questions.
It will be an evening of learning, lively interaction, connecting with other QAE parents, and delicious refreshments.

· Understand the shifts in the ways kids can share and collaborate their work, ideas, and creations
· See the programs being used by students at Queen Anne Elementary, including:
o Voice Threads – Transform media into collaborative spaces with video, voice, and text commenting
o Glogster – Preview interactive learning posters. What questions do you still have? Ask the author
o Weebly – Create encouraging comments on student e-folios and classroom blogs (continued parent homework!)
o Wallwisher – Add to the discussion with your post-its
· Understand the importance of making meaningful comments that encourage rather than praise

Wednesday, February 29
7:00pm – 8:30pm
(refreshments and mingling will begin at 6:30 and resume after the presentation)
Queen Anne Elementary Library

All Queen Anne Elementary parents/guardians and staff are invited

_Way to go QAE Families!  Almost half of your students returned their QAE Cafe Kale Handouts since the January 30 Monday Morning Meeting where First Graders brilliantly presented the Superfood to the entire school.

Congratulations to MRS. LECKIE'S SECOND GRADERS, who returned the highest number of handouts (17!) and have won a smoothie party!!!!!
All families should take a look at the wonderful photos on the Garden Web Page, which features many of our children enjoying Kale. **THE PASSWORD FOR THE PHOTO PAGE IS: tomato.

Thank you once again to the families who prepared the Kale Chips that we all enjoyed at the QAE Cafe last Friday, and to those parents who worked the Cafe and took the beautiful photos.
